How To De-stress

Lynda Kenny of just sent out an email with a link to a new blog post she made titled The Simple Secret To De-stress.

Her secret?

Take a walk!

In 1994 I had a heart attack at the age of 35 years old. In my follow up doctor visits I mentioned to my doctor one day that I was amazed at how much better I felt if I took even a 10 minute walk.

He replied I wish I could have you come in and talk to some of my patients.

Lynda agrees with me in her post. She says getting outside in nature alone with your thoughts is a great way to de-stress.

I love that word. De-stress! If stress is defined as feeling tension or pressure then de-stressing is making that tension or pressure go away.

It is not easy to do, but I have to admit when I take even short walks now at the age of 60 it is amazing how much more relaxed I am. It is also amazing how much better I sleep at night.

Without even realizing it you will de-stress when you get outside and take a walk.

Here is a key point!

You do not even have to schedule time like you are doing a work out. Turn your smartphone off, put on some comfortable shoes, and head out the front door.

Even a short 10 minute walk can make a big difference in your stress levels.
